On June 10, Qualia, a company developing humanoid robot training systems based in Copenhagen (Denmark) with an office in Stockholm (Sweden), posted a video on X featuring a “perfectly” designed robot entering a kitchen to wash dishes and wipe the table. The movements were executed smoothly, with natural walking and decisive actions.
“We train models capable of exhibiting physicality, allowing humanoid robots to perform real manual tasks. They operate effectively on-site, not just for demonstration,” the company stated.

However, according to Futurism, the “astonishingly lifelike” movements raised suspicions among many viewers, questioning whether a real robot was moving in the physical world, or if the video was AI-generated or featured a real person in disguise. In response to numerous inquiries, Qualia’s CEO Fabian Kerj admitted that the character in the video was not a robot.
“That is not a real robot. We are building training infrastructure, not hardware,” Kerj replied to a comment on X.
“But I have grabbed your attention,” Kerj continued in response to another comment, accompanied by a smiley face emoji.
This action was met with immediate backlash. “Isn’t this approach misleading and deceptive?” Reddit user Flewson wrote. “Perhaps partners should reconsider their association with this company.”
“A company that is ambiguous and dishonest,” user Dercatai agreed. “They don’t even produce robots.”
“I will blame Elon Musk for starting this nonsense,” Reddit user iHexx humorously remarked, referencing Tesla’s previous use of real people to promote Optimus. When the humanoid robot Optimus was first introduced in 2021, the project was still on paper, so it was demonstrated by an actor in a simulation suit, which Tesla publicly acknowledged.
Qualia’s X account later addressed the community: “We have not produced hardware. But we might soon.”
In reality, Qualia provides software solutions for training humanoid robots but has not manufactured hardware. The company claims to be a partner in the Robotics Program conducted by Google DeepMind in Europe. Google has not yet commented.
