The aircraft completed the transatlantic flight while transporting passengers to the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix. The flight showcased the operational capabilities of this ultra-long-range business jet, which has a maximum speed of 1,152 km/h (Mach 0.95) and a range of 14,816 km. The Global 8000 is described as Bombardier’s flagship business jet, combining long-range capability, high cruise speed, and a cabin designed to reduce fatigue during intercontinental flights. The flight from Montreal to Nice marks the first speed record set by the Global 8000. While Bombardier did not disclose the exact flight time, only stating that it lasted more than six hours, this journey highlights the Global 8000’s ability to travel between North America and Europe at high speeds. With a maximum speed of 1,152 km/h, it becomes one of the fastest business jets in the industry. The aircraft’s long range targets customers who need to travel continuously between major business and leisure destinations worldwide. According to Bombardier, the cabin altitude (the pressure altitude inside the passenger cabin, equivalent to a height above sea level) is 820 m when flying at a cruising altitude of 12,496 m above ground. This is the lowest cabin altitude for a business jet. The aircraft features four distinct living spaces and a full kitchen, allowing passengers to work, dine, and rest throughout the flight. The vehicle is also equipped with advanced connectivity options and seating designed for increased comfort and support. Despite its large size and long range, the Global 8000 has takeoff and landing capabilities comparable to light jets. The advanced wing design of the Global 8000 includes leading-edge slats, improving access to smaller, restricted airports, providing flexibility for operators when planning routes. According to Corporate Jet Investor, in the ultra-long-range business jet market, Bombardier’s Global 8000 directly competes with major rivals including the Gulfstream G800, Gulfstream G700, and Dassault Falcon 10X. The Gulfstream G800 has a range of 14,816 km like the Global 8000 but has a slightly lower maximum speed of 1,154 km/h (Mach 0.935).
