On June 5, the US Department of State announced its approval of a potential deal to sell Kuwait Roadrunner-Munition and Anvil-Kinetic systems specifically designed for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) defense, along with launchers, Lattice command systems, surveillance equipment, the Pulsar electronic warfare system, tactical operations centers, and other support equipment and services.

The estimated value of the deal is 1.98 billion USD. The primary contractor will be Anduril, a California-based company.

“The contract will support US foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing security for a major non-NATO ally, which is vital to political stability and economic development in the Middle East,” the announcement stated.

The US Department of State affirmed that these systems will enhance Kuwait’s capabilities to counter current and future threats through electronic warfare solutions and UAV interception. The agency emphasized that the contract will not affect the military balance in the region.

The quantity of equipment and the final price will be determined during negotiations between the buyer and the supplier.

The US Congress will have 30 days from the receipt of the notification to decide whether to block the deal. If there is no objection from Congress, the contract will be presented to President Donald Trump for approval.

Kuwait officials earlier this week accused Iran of launching UAV attacks on the country’s international airport, resulting in one death and 63 injuries. Tehran denied involvement, asserting that it only targeted military bases and claimed that the incident stemmed from a US-made Patriot missile defense system.

On June 3, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced that it had intercepted 30 ballistic missiles launched from Iran, stating that Tehran was engaging in “dangerous aggressive actions.” The Central Command, which oversees US military operations in the Middle East, later stated that the Iranian attacks “did not hit any targets.”

Anduril Industries is one of the prominent companies in the US defense startup sector, committed to providing equipment and software that help the military keep pace with global drone technology trends.

Capitalizing on the investment wave in military technology, Anduril increased its company value to 30.5 billion USD by the end of 2025, more than tripling its value since 2022. The company has secured multiple contracts with the US military to produce a range of prototypes, from suicide drones to battlefield management systems.

However, the Wall Street Journal reported in November 2025, citing anonymous sources, that numerous products from Anduril had malfunctioned during testing and continued to face issues, causing disappointment during trials in Ukraine.
