Controlling Faulty Ceiling Fans, Mass Disabling of Smart Keys – VnExpress Report
On the morning of June 11, the Radio Frequency Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology announced that it successfully dealt with a source of interference in Dak Lak.
Earlier, on June 10, following complaints from residents about many vehicles using smart keys experiencing issues in Tan An Ward, the Regional Center VII of the Department collaborated with the Frequency Control Department to investigate and determine the cause. By 3 PM the same day, the technical team identified the interference source as a faulty remote control device used for ceiling fans in the area.
This device was malfunctioning, continuously transmitting signals on the frequency of 433.918 MHz. This frequency is used by many low-power remote control systems, including smart keys for cars and motorcycles. The abnormal signal transmission affected the ability of vehicles in the area to receive commands.
After the issue was addressed, the operation of cars and motorcycles using smart keys returned to normal.

Recently, the Radio Frequency Department has repeatedly discovered and handled issues related to electronic devices transmitting signals that overlap with smart key frequencies. These interference sources usually come from faulty wireless devices, such as vibrating devices in cafes, roller shutter keys, water pump switches, and fire alarms. Most of these are non-compliant devices purchased by residents from unreliable sources in the market.
To ensure frequency safety and avoid similar incidents, the Radio Frequency Department advises residents to purchase and use radio frequency application devices that have clear origins, are certified, announced, and bear compliance stamps as per current regulations.
